Vision, Mission & Goals

Military Spouses often find it difficult to seek, obtain, and sustain professional careers commensurate with their level of education and experience. In Gear Career is a nonprofit that was started by Military Spouses for Military Spouses, and operates on the principle that past and present Military Spouses will help each other find fulfilling employment, build community, expand professional networks, capture lessons learned and mentor each other towards meaningful careers.

To improve the quality of life, morale and stability for military families by enabling military spouses to seek professional employment and maintain long term career paths despite the transient nature and demands of the military lifestyle.

To promote and advance the employment, career development and networking opportunities for military spouses across all professional occupations by enabling the exchange of accurate, timely and topical information through local and online community building efforts and advocacy programs.

Our Goals

 

Establish Communities

Military spouses find that one of the greatest impediments to achieving long-term career growth is the difficulty they have building a professional network each time they relocate. In order to address this need, In Gear Career will establish two different types of communities in which Military Spouses with professional careers can interact.

  • Local Chapters. Groups of career minded Military Spouses will be established and meet for support, professional development and networking opportunities near all major military installations.
  • Communities of Practice. Online communities of past and present Military Spouses in the same occupational field will support each other and share career related advice and information to enhance the career prospects of all community members.

 

Provide Resources

In Gear Career develops and provides free professional career resources and advice tailored specifically for Military Spouses.

 

Advocate

In Gear Career will give voice to the professionally driven Military Spouse. We will listen to your issues, aggregate information, and unify your voices to create change.
