For the Military Spouse, the ability to find fulfilling employment is affected by the transient nature and demands of the military lifestyle. Military Spouses often find it difficult to seek, obtain, and sustain professional careers commensurate with their level of education and experience. The overall wage gap between civilian and military wives is 42 percent.

To improve the quality of life, morale and stability for military families by enabling Military Spouses to seek and maintain professional employment and long term career paths alongside their Service Members.
Our Mission
To promote and advance the employment, career development and networking opportunities for Military Spouses across all professional occupations by enabling the exchange of accurate, timely and topical information through Local and On-Line Community building efforts and advocacy programs.
Our Goals
1. Establish Communities. A significant difficulty that spouses report in career growth is the difficulty of building a professional network each time they relocate. We will establish two different types of communities in which Military Spouses can interact.
- Local Chapters. Local groups near all major Military Installations. These groups will meet for support, professional development and to enable networking opportunities in their location.
- Communities of Practice. Online communities of Current and Retired Military Spouses in the same career field. These groups will provide career related advice, support and professional development training to enhance the career prospects of all community members.
2. Provide Resources. In Gear provides and develops free career resources tailored specifically for the Professional Military Spouse.
3. Advocate. We will give voice to the professionally driven military spouse. We will listen to your issues, aggregate information, and unify your voices to create change.
