Volunteer

Volunteering with In Gear Career is a great way to help out with our mission and work with like-minded professionals to create positive change for Military Spouses pursuing professional careers. We understand you have many competing priorities and we welcome you to be a part of our team with any level of involvement you can provide.

As a volunteer we encourage you to use or develop your skills in an area of your choice. We are happy to validate your volunteering hours and can write letters of recommendation for great work. Even if you are only interested in filling a small part of one of the positions described below, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Community of Practice Facilitator: Lead a group of professionals in your occupational field by taking the lead in initiating and managing topical discussions in an online group forum. Help identify professional development opportunities and resources that will benefit the group and seek ways to share the advice, knowledge and resources of group members to create positive growth for all.

  • Local Chapter Leader:  Coordinate the organization and marketing of group networking events in your location. Develop relationships with Local Military Support Agencies and Commercial Industry Representatives to improve opportunities for professional Military Spouses in your area and help populate an online forum with useful employment related information for the area.

  • Writing and Editing: Use your specific knowledge and skills to develop or edit website resources, articles, blogs or informative presentations on any occupational field, military spouse issue or career related topic.

  • Graphic Design:  Create marketing materials and informative brochures for career fairs, employers and other Military Spouses to spread the word about In Gear Career and advertise our events.

  • Media and Communication: Be a point of contact for media inquiries and assist with developing and implementing In Gear Career's Media Strategy. Assist with the development of Press Releases or managing the Twitter, Facebook and YouTube messages.

  • Marketing: Develop resources and assist with In Gear Career development by educating corporate America, Service Family Readiness Groups, Government, and Academia about In Gear Career principles.

  • Fundraising: Assist with In Gear Career fundraising events and development of other funding sources (grants, donations from individuals and businesses) by educating corporate America and American citizens about In Gear Career principles and our mission.
